Install and activate Embed Chessboard separately. This is an independent add-on, not a replacement chess engine or an official pgn4web product. * Expand the entire player with the browser Fullscreen API. Exit using the button or Escape. * When browser fullscreen is unavailable, a clearly labelled viewport overlay is used where the page layout permits it. * Keep the current game, move, variations and appearance while changing display modes. * Separate Page width mode respects content columns and uses a top-layer panel when needed. * Five appearances: Original, Wood, Green, Blue and Night. The choice is saved in localStorage on your site. * Responsive square board, move list and labelled replay controls. * Readable, keyboard-accessible engine alerts, including help for misconfigured live broadcasts. Original pgn4web diagnostics remain available. * English interface and bundled Czech translation. The add-on does not create upload endpoints, fetch remote PGN, modify game data, add analytics, contact external services or impose paid/trial restrictions. Embed Chessboard owns its existing PGN loading and configuration. All assets supplied by this add-on are local and human-readable; no build step is needed. This plugin was previously distributed privately as SSZK responsive chessboard. Its existing CSS classes, script handle and theme preference key remain compatible. Deactivate the old add-on before activating this one. If your theme already supplies the old script handle, remove that duplicate integration before using this add-on. ## Installation 1. Install and activate Embed Chessboard. 2. Upload the bednar-chess-replay ZIP through Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, then activate it. 3. In a post or page, add a Shortcode block containing: [pgn autoplayMode=none initialHalfmove=start] [Event “Example”] [White “White”][ Black “Black”] [Result “*”] 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 * [/pgn] 1. View the post. Use the navigation buttons, appearance choices, Page width or Expand. Existing [pgn4web] content is also enhanced when that alias is registered by your installed player. No shortcode is registered or replaced by this add-on. ## FAQ ### Which input formats are supported? Embed Chessboard parses PGN, including variations, comments and SetUp/FEN tags for starting positions. This add-on preserves its options. For a standalone position, use a PGN game containing SetUp “1” and FEN headers. There is no separate FEN editor in this add-on. ### Why does the upper-left square blink? pgn4web has reported an alert, such as invalid PGN/FEN, an illegal move, a failed remote load or a live-broadcast configuration error. Click the square for the original log, or open Game diagnostics below the player for a text-only log. No artificial blinking is added. Move errors may be detected only when replay reaches that move. ### How do I resolve the live broadcast warning? Live broadcast requires an external PGN URL configured in Embed Chessboard. Turn live broadcast off for games embedded directly in a post. This add-on deliberately does not change your site’s settings or suppress the warning. ### Does fullscreen work on every device? Browser support and embedding permissions vary. The whole component requests fullscreen from the parent page; the inner player iframe does not need its own fullscreen permission. A site embedded inside another iframe needs fullscreen permission from its host. A denied request uses a labelled viewport overlay. In older browsers with clipping ancestors and no Popover API, expansion is declined safely. Mobile portrait uses stacked content with vertical scrolling. ### Does it work with every chess plugin or theme? No. It targets same-origin pgn4web/board.html frames produced by Embed Chessboard. Cross-origin frames remain unchanged. Other chess plugins such as RPB Chessboard use a different renderer. Unknown page builders and theme CSS require site-specific testing. ### What data is stored? Only the selected appearance is stored in the browser under sszk-chess-replay-theme. There are no add-on database settings, telemetry or external requests.
