The service is provided by BackupWP: https://backupwp.com/ When an administrator selects Connect to BackupWP or Reconnect BackupWP, the plugin requests a temporary public pairing key from BackupWP Cloud. The plugin then sends the site name, site URL, generated client key, and generated client secret to the service in an encrypted pairing package. This pairing data is sent only when an authorized administrator starts or restarts the connection process. After pairing, BackupWP Cloud initiates HMAC-authenticated requests to the plugin when a backup, verification, health check, settings operation, restore, or migration is requested or scheduled through the service. Depending on the operation, the service may receive: * WordPress site files, including configuration files selected for backup * Database schema and content * File and database metadata, checksums, and backup status * Site URL and WordPress environment details * WordPress, PHP, theme, plugin, must-use plugin, and drop-in information * Runtime, memory, disk, upload-limit, and configuration-location diagnostics * Plugin settings and temporary restore credentials required for an active restore The service may also send backup control data, plugin settings, restore files, database content, and target restore or migration configuration to the plugin when carrying out an operation requested through BackupWP Cloud. At the start of a restore, BackupWP Cloud requests a new randomly named, HMAC-protected temporary restore endpoint. The endpoint is removed after a successful restore and expires after 24 hours if completion does not occur. BackupWP Cloud must start this step while WordPress remains able to serve authenticated REST requests.
