See the FAQ for exactly what is limited. * Visitors without JavaScript can submit, vote, and page through feedback, but can’t search, sort, or filter, and don’t see the similar-ideas prompt. * On sites with full-page caching, pages cached for more than a day carry expired security tokens and submissions from them are rejected. Exclude pages that show a board from the page cache, or keep cache lifetimes under 12 hours. * A visitor’s earlier vote is recognized when they vote again, but isn’t highlighted when the page first loads. * There is no drag-and-drop admin board; statuses are changed on each item’s edit screen. * Multisite: each site keeps its own boards, feedback, votes and settings. The plugin sets itself up on every site, but has had limited multisite testing. ### Usage #### Creating a board Assist Roadmap Add New Board. Give it a title, an optional description (shown on the frontend), and choose its default view (Roadmap only, Feedback only, or both with tabs). #### Managing statuses Each board has its own roadmap statuses and feedback statuses, managed from the Statuses box on the board’s edit screen. Add, rename, recolor, reorder (with the/ buttons), remove, or mark one as the default — no page reload needed, changes save with the rest of the board. #### Adding a roadmap item Assist Roadmap Add New Roadmap Item (or **Roadmap Items** to manage existing ones). Omitting `view` uses the board’s own configured default view. The same options are available from the **Assist Roadmap** block’s sidebar. #### Reviewing and converting feedback Assist Roadmap Feedback lists every submission with its board, status, and vote count. Open one to change its board/status, or use **Convert to Roadmap Item** from the list to create a linked draft roadmap item pre-filled from it. ## Blocks This plugin provides 1 block. * Assist Roadmap Display an Assist Roadmap board. ## Installation 1. Upload the `assist-roadmap` folder to `/wp-content/plugins/`, or install the zip via Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin. 2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ screen. 3. Go to **Assist Roadmap** in your WordPress admin menu. 4. Click **Add New Board**, give it a name, and review its default statuses (Planned/ In Progress / Completed for the roadmap, and Open / Under Review / Planned / In Progress / Completed / Declined for feedback) — edit them if you like. 5. Add a few roadmap items from **Assist Roadmap Add New Roadmap Item**, assigning them to your board and a status. 6. Copy the board’s shortcode from its edit screen (in the Shortcode box), or add the **Assist Roadmap** block, to any page or post. ## FAQ ### Does this require an account or external service? No. Assist Roadmap runs entirely on your own WordPress installation and makes no external requests. ### Do visitors need an account to submit feedback or vote? No, unless you turn off guest voting. Logged-in users get one vote per idea. Guests are recognized by a salted, one-way hash of their IP address and browser; the raw IP address is never stored. ### How are votes and submissions protected against abuse? By default, one IP address can add at most 3 guest votes to a single idea per 24 hours (so a few people sharing a network can each vote), at most 60 guest votes per hour overall, and at most 5 feedback submissions per 10 minutes. Identical double submissions are merged. Forms also use a honeypot field and a minimum fill-in time. Developers can change or disable each limit with the `assist_roadmap_rate_limit` filter. These limits stop casual and scripted repeat voting from one connection; they cannot stop someone with access to many different IP addresses. ### My site is behind a proxy or CDN. Does rate limiting still work? The plugin uses the connection’s IP address (`REMOTE_ADDR`). Behind a reverse proxy that is the proxy’s address, so all visitors share one limit. Use the `assist_roadmap_voter_ip` filter to supply the real client IP from a header your proxy sets. Only do this for a proxy you control, because such headers can be forged. ### Is there a REST API? Yes, under `/wp-json/assist-roadmap/v1/`. `GET /boards`, `GET /boards/{id}`, `GET/ boards/{id}/roadmap` and `GET /boards/{id}/feedback` return published boards only and never include email addresses. `POST /feedback` and `POST /votes` are public, like the frontend forms, and apply the same validation, settings and limits. Invalid input returns a 400 error. ### What personal data does the plugin store? Feedback text (published), an optional email address (private, used only to contact the submitter about that idea), and the hashed vote records described above. Email addresses are included in WordPress’s Export Personal Data tool and removed by Erase Personal Data. Suggested privacy policy text is added under Settings Privacy. ### Can each board have its own statuses? Yes. Statuses are per board, not shared globally. If you delete a status, its items move to the board’s default status. ### What happens to feedback that becomes a roadmap item? **Convert to Roadmap Item** creates a draft roadmap item with the same title and description on the same board, linked back to the feedback. The feedback itself is unchanged, so you can set its status separately. ### Who can manage boards? Only users who can manage the site’s options (administrators). Other roles cannot create, edit, or delete boards, items, feedback, or categories, even by visiting the admin URLs directly. ### Does displaying a board slow down the rest of my site? No. CSS and JavaScript only load on pages that display a board. ### What happens when I delete the plugin? Nothing is removed unless you enable **Delete all data on uninstall** in the settings.
