Each box therefore keeps a stable identity independent of its position on a page. Main features: * Centrally managed Accordion Boxes and hierarchical categories * Reduced rich-text editing interface for box content * Interactive Gutenberg preview * Gutenberg blocks for normal lists, browser-local favorites and random Shuffle selections * Shortcodes `[reader_accordion]`, `[reader_accordion_favorites]` and `[reader_accordion_shuffle]` * Browser-local Read / Unread state * New and Updated detection based on each reader’s local state * Browser-local favorites with configurable star or heart controls * Native sharing with copy, email and WhatsApp fallbacks * Direct links that open the targeted box * Personal toolbar with counters, reading progress, filters, search and open/close actions, including a compact icon mode * Optional native WordPress comments per box, including global comment modes * Lazy-loaded comment threads and configurable initial comment visibility * Flexible styling for borders, shadows, spacing, colors, closed/open icon directions and behavior * Non-destructive import from Lightweight Accordion blocks and shortcodes * Automatic usage overview in the WordPress admin * English source language with WordPress.org-ready internationalization * Independent frontend language setting: Automatic, German or English ### Language behavior The WordPress admin follows WordPress and the current user’s configured locale. Reader-facing frontend labels can be configured under **Accordion Boxes > Settings > General**: * **Automatic**: follows the locale selected by WordPress or a multilingual plugin * **German**: forces only Accordion Boxes frontend labels to German * **English**: forces only Accordion Boxes frontend labels to English The override affects only this plugin. It does not change the locale used by WordPress core, the active theme or other plugins. For backwards compatibility, installations upgraded from versions before 0.9 keep German frontend labels until the administrator changes this setting. New installations default to Automatic. ### Import The importer under Accordion Boxes > Import scans saved WordPress content for Lightweight Accordion blocks and the `[lightweight-accordion]` and `[lightweight-accordion-nested]` shortcodes. Source pages are never changed. Identical items already imported are skipped on subsequent imports. Existing Lightweight Accordion anchors are retained as aliases where possible. ### Privacy Reading state, seen boxes, the New-status baseline and favorites are stored in the reader’s browser using localStorage. The plugin does not create server-side reader profiles for these features. When the Favorites view is opened, only the currently favorited box IDs are sent to a read-only endpoint on the same WordPress installation so published boxes can be rendered. These IDs are not stored server-side by the plugin. Sharing activity is not logged by the plugin. Native sharing is handed to the browser’s Web Share API. Email and WhatsApp are opened only after an explicit reader action. If comments are enabled, comment data is processed and stored through the normal WordPress comment system. The site’s WordPress privacy, cookie, moderation and anti- spam configuration continues to apply. ### External services Accordion Boxes can optionally offer a WhatsApp action in its share menu. No request to WhatsApp is made merely by loading an Accordion Boxes page. Only after a reader explicitly chooses **WhatsApp** does the browser open `https:// wa.me/` and pass the share text configured by the site owner. Depending on the plugin settings, that text can contain the Accordion Box title, an excerpt and/or the direct link to the box. Upload the plugin ZIP under Plugins > Add Plugin > Upload Plugin, or replace an existing version. 2. Activate the plugin. 3. Create at least one category under Accordion Boxes > Categories, or import existing Lightweight Accordion content under Accordion Boxes > Import. 4. Create Accordion Boxes, assign categories and publish them. 5. Edit a page and insert the Accordion Boxes block. 6. Select the desired category in the block settings. 7. Configure global behavior under Accordion Boxes > Settings.
