Choose a page, inspect the document delivered by your website, and confirm that details such as your services, locations and phone number are still there. The plugin works on your own WordPress site. It needs no AI API key, Cloudflare account or external conversion service. #### Publish readable content * Dedicated Markdown links for eligible posts, pages and enabled public custom post types. * Automatic discovery links in the normal page and its HTTP headers. * Optional delivery at the original URL when a client explicitly prefers `text/ markdown` in its Accept header. * Conversion of the anonymous, server-rendered page, including content rendered by the theme, blocks and shortcodes. * Page title, canonical URL, updated date, language, absolute links and valid JSON- LD. * Removal of common navigation, scripts, hidden elements and sections explicitly marked for exclusion. #### Check what actually arrives The inspector makes public requests without your WordPress login cookies. It displays the returned Markdown so you can review the output, rather than relying on a conversion setting alone. * Check that the dedicated URL returns Markdown. * Check that ordinary page requests return HTML before and after a Markdown request. * Test optional Accept-header delivery at the normal URL. * Check the no-store instruction on each tested Markdown response. * Look for important phrases you supply, ignoring case and punctuation. * Compare response sizes using measured bytes, not estimated tokens. * Copy the delivered Markdown for your own review or workflow. A check applies to the selected page and the observed browser request path. It does not prove that every cache location or AI crawler behaves identically. Missing phrases are reported separately from delivery results; the plugin does not invent a search or AI visibility score. #### Choose what to share Select the public content types you want to make available and exclude individual pages in the inspector. Drafts, private posts, password-protected pages, site search- visibility restrictions and supported noindex settings are excluded. Administrator and password-unlock cookies do not unlock Markdown exports. Documents are generated on request. The plugin creates no public export files or document cache, and sends `Cache-Control: private, no-store` with Markdown responses. Upload the plugin ZIP through Plugins -> Add Plugin -> Upload Plugin, then activate it. 2. Open Settings -> Markdown Delivery Inspector. 3. Choose a published page. Optionally enter important phrases, one per line, and save them. 4. Click Check page. Review delivery, missing details and the Markdown preview. 5. Check representative pages on your staging site, including the hosting cache and any access restrictions. 6. If you want Markdown at the normal page URL, enable the optional delivery setting and run the checks again. Requires WordPress 6.8 or later, PHP 8.0 or later, and the PHP DOM/XML extension. Standard dedicated links are available after activation; header delivery is off by default. ## FAQ ### Why publish Markdown for AI clients? Markdown represents headings, paragraphs, lists and links as readable text. An agent or other client can request that representation instead of processing a complete HTML page. This plugin makes the representation available; each client decides whether to use it. ### Do I need Cloudflare or an AI subscription? No. Conversion runs inside WordPress. No external AI service, account or API key is required. This is an independent plugin from A1 Local and is not affiliated with Cloudflare. ### Where is a page’s Markdown link? With pretty permalinks, the dedicated route is `/a1-local-markdown-delivery-inspector/ POST_ID.md`. With plain permalinks, the canonical URL uses the `a1local_mdi_format =markdown` query parameter. The inspector includes an Open Markdown link. Eligible pages also advertise the alternate URL in an HTML link and HTTP Link header. ### Will normal visitors still see my website? Yes. Dedicated URLs serve Markdown. Header delivery is optional and requires an explicit Accept preference for `text/markdown` over HTML. Wildcards and equal preferences keep HTML. If you enable header delivery, test the real cache in front of WordPress; some hosts need a bypass rule for Markdown requests. ### Can I check services, locations or contact details? Yes. Enter phrases that should already appear on the page, one per line. The inspector checks whether each phrase occurs in the delivered document, ignoring case and punctuation. These phrases are checks, not extra public content: saving a phrase does not insert it into the Markdown. ### Does it improve SEO or guarantee AI citations? No ranking, indexing, citation, training-exclusion or crawler-adoption guarantees are made. Markdown Delivery Inspector publishes a content representation and helps you inspect its delivery. It does not submit pages to AI providers or search engines. ### How are edits kept current? The document is rendered on request. Markdown responses ask caches not to store them. A host configured to ignore these headers can still cache incorrectly, and a previously downloaded document cannot be recalled. The inspector reports observed behaviour on its request path. ### Does it support my page builder, store or membership plugin? It reads the full server-rendered theme output. Content created only by browser JavaScript is unavailable. Test your theme, page builder, multilingual setup, WooCommerce store and membership rules on staging. No universal compatibility is claimed. Private areas, accounts, carts and checkout pages are not suitable content to publish through this tool. ### How can developers exclude restricted content? Return `false` from the `a1local_mdi_can_export_post` filter for a restricted post. The filter can restrict access further but cannot override the built-in exclusions. Add a `data-a1local-mdi-exclude` attribute to a rendered element to remove that element and its descendants, including nested structured data. ### Does the content usage setting stop AI training? It declares a preference using the Content-Signal header; it does not enforce access restrictions. The default is `ai-train=no, search=yes, ai-input=yes`. An existing Content-Signal response header takes precedence. Whether a client respects the signal is outside the plugin’s control. ### What information does the plugin store or send? Settings and per-page exclusions/important phrases remain in your WordPress database. Check results stay in the current browser screen. The plugin does not send content to an external conversion service or add telemetry, IP logging or a visitor analytics database. Your hosting provider, other plugins and WordPress may have their own logs. Uninstalling removes this plugin’s settings and page metadata. ### What are the current limits? The plugin handles singular public posts, pages and enabled custom post types, with a 2 MB limit on rendered HTML. It selects the first main landmark, then an article/ content/body fallback. Inspect unusual themes and pages with several main containers.
