The plugin provides a dedicated screen under **Media > ALT Finder** where authorized users can: * Find image attachments with empty or missing ALT text. * Review all image attachments in one searchable view. * See image previews, filenames, and current ALT text. * Edit and save ALT text one image at a time. * Review simple ALT coverage statistics. ALT Finder uses WordPress’s standard `_wp_attachment_image_alt` metadata. Deactivating or deleting the plugin does not remove ALT text that has already been saved. #### Accessibility note ALT Finder assists with managing image alternative text. It does not make a website automatically accessible or compliant with any accessibility standard. Decorative images may appropriately use empty ALT text depending on their context and implementation. #### Free and Pro This free plugin is fully functional for finding and individually editing image ALT text. An optional, separately distributed ALT Finder Pro plugin adds bulk editing and a Save All Changes workflow. Pro is not required to use this plugin. Upload the `3mpstudio-alt-finder` folder to `/wp-content/plugins/`, or install the plugin through the WordPress Plugins screen. 2. Activate **3mpStudio ALT Finder** through the **Plugins** screen. 3. Go to **Media > ALT Finder**. 4. Choose **Missing ALT Text** or **All Images** and begin reviewing your Media Library. ## FAQ ### Does ALT Finder automatically generate ALT text? No. ALT Finder helps you find, review, write, and manage ALT text. You remain in control of the final descriptions. ### Does every image need descriptive ALT text? No. Decorative images may appropriately use empty ALT text. The correct alternative text depends on an image’s purpose and context on the page. ### Will deleting ALT Finder delete my ALT text? No. ALT Finder saves to WordPress’s standard image attachment ALT metadata. Removing the plugin does not remove ALT text you already saved. ### Who can edit ALT text with the plugin? Users must have WordPress Media Library access, and the plugin checks whether the current user can edit each specific attachment before saving changes. Users who cannot edit other users’ posts are limited to their own uploaded images in ALT Finder. ### Does the plugin send Media Library data to 3mpStudio? No. This version does not send your Media Library data to 3mpStudio or use a remote API for its ALT editing features. ### What is the difference between Free and Pro? The free version finds missing ALT text and supports individual image editing.
