Personally I think they’re the best support forums on the web, but I’m biased. Anyway we tracked down the 2,000th registrant on the forums, James Bickers, to highlight this occasion.

James, could you tell us a little about yourself? (What you do, where you’re from, etc)

I live in Louisville, KY with my wife and son and two dogs, where I work as (a) a radio DJ and producer, and (b) a freelance writer and graphic designer. In the mornings, I host the 6-9 am drive-time slot on WFPK-FM, a AAA/adult rock radio station (it’s awesome – you can listen online at http://www.wfpk.org). I produce and host a weekly arts/culture interview show for WFPL-FM called “On Second Thought,” which is now in its sixth season (ditto about listening online – http://www.wfpl.org/ost.htm). In the time that remains, I write album reviews for a Gannett newspaper, book reviews for Publisher’s Weekly, and educational stories on technology for various textbook publishers.

How did you find WordPress?

On opensourcecms.com.

What do you use or hope to use WordPress for?

I had used Greymatter a year or so ago to run my website, but it was overdue for a complete rehaul, and GM doesn’t support categories. I absolutely love it so far – it’s got the best installer I’ve ever seen, and definitely the cleanest interface. And so far I’ve posed a few newbie questions to the forums, and got friendly answers almost immediately.

If you could request one feature what would it be?

Integrated photoblogging (I really love Ross Poulton’s script at www.rossp.org – it’s based on directories, is a snap to use, and has a great, clean look). Integrating an “Upload Image” field into the new post screen. But, having said that, I think it’s a remarkable program, and even if you left it just as it is today, it’s going to be valuable for years to come.

Many thanks to James for joining the WordPress community and also for putting up with this interview. 🙂

As many of you know, the WordPress support forums have been growing by leaps and bounds lately, with over 30,000 posts and 2,000 in just the relatively short time they’ve been available.
