Write a Comment from the Write Screen
I'll try not to kvetch (since that goes elsewhere). I have often wished I could write a comment from the full featured write screen, rather than typing it into the little comment box. I use comment quicktags and preview but still it's hard writing a long comment in that relatively small box. As the site owner it would be nice to have the option.
I realize you can submit a few lines and then choose edit to use a slimmed down version of the write screen. But this means some portion of your comment is hanging out there while you finish the rest. Write Comment would be a great improvement.
Thanks so much for WordPress. It's wonderful to be able to have such problems.
I'm not sure I fully understand...
Couldn't you just customize your theme to say if it is the author of the post viewing the page, then display the comment box larger than what your visitors might see?
Maybe I just don't understand what you're saying...?
I think I see what you're asking for. Would it make more sense to have a "New Comment" link of some sort on the lines of the "Manage > Posts" and "Manage > Comments" screens rather than a "Write > Comments" tab?
Yes you could do that (I don't know how you'd actually do that in CSS alone -- seems like it would require PHP in the post form as well) but even if you could you'd be relying on 1) custom CSS 2) preview plugin and 3) quicktags plugin and you're still not getting anything nearly as nice as the WYSIWYG editor built in to WordPress.
That might make it easier to associate the comment with the proper post.
I would still prefer a Write>Comment tab where you could use all the editing features in full WYSIWYG mode sans extensive customization.
