WordPress backend to slow ...

  1. bergi95

my problem is, if I build wordpress sites with long content (about 4000 Words) the wordpress backend is getting to slow so I am not able to work with it.

I have updated the memory in the ini.php file from 8 MB to 256MB but nothing change.

What do you think where is the problem?

Your computer, actually, not the server. There's a lot of Javascript that runs to make your post sorted, and if you have services or plugins like Yoast SEO, which live-scan your content, it will slow the page down. Switch to the HTML editor and see if it changes.

Yes agree with bergi95, even my sql server crashes when I update large posts like 10000 words. Need a fix to this. Sometimes I just need to update a single line and the whole content reupdates and loads the server high.

    That's a different issue.

If it's slow while EDITING then it's the browser. If it's slow when saving, well ... you should break up those posts a bit. People won't read a 10,000 word long post :/ About 1000 is as much as people want to read.

I agree bergi95, WordPress backend is slow when you use big themes or plugins. But I recommended you don't use more plugins. Plugins make your site slow. you can check how much load your plugin to your site by using "plugin speed test" plugin.

And the plugin Speed doesnt work.

Now its impossible to work with that

You can use WP Rocket plugin, will significantly reduce the page load time. If the article includes images, this plugin support load each image when customers pull down to view that image. You can install this feature in the settings section of it. I hope this plugin will help your website loading faster. I'm using it and feel very satisfied.

Adam, that won't help the BACK end of WP so much :/ If the site is slow while writing, it's probably not caching.

You can try https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/ to possibly debug why, but in general, yes, Super Long Content is slow :(

    Hi bergi95 ,
Have you tried with disabling all plugins?
Have you tried with different themes?

If the problem persist after that also, then better you can switch to PHP 7.2 which is more than 70% faster than PHP 5.0

I had a similar problem. This is not a matter of WP, but of plugins. With Yoast SEO disabled, everything works fine.
