Visual Composer (no more shortcodes)

    Hello all :)

I would like to begin with by saying, this isn´t a new idea but, I was browsing for some plugins few days ago and i came across a plugin that seemed so logical that i was amazed it wasn´t just a part of wordpress. The plugin name is Visual Composer, you can see it here http://demo.wpbakery.com/?theme=visual-composer.

Instead of the users always having to use shortcodes to make some fancy features, and often fail because the know how to use them are often complicated, then spending allot of time searching for the instructions and reading through them and sometimes, you only use the shortcode once in a while and then the knowledge of how to use that shortcode is maybe lost and you have to find how to use it all over again. Why not then have a system that allows for drag and drop, visual component shortcodes like in this plugin i mentioned above?

I propose that, wordpress has it´s own Visual Composer and plugin developers can make new addons onto that visiual composer, that would make wodrpess what it is supposed to be, an easy way to make a blog or a website for all!

Yes! I totally agree! Lets get back to the visual creation of making a web site, and have a visual intuitive layout engine inside WordPress Core!

the problem is that visual composer has some major bugs. you can't use standard wordpress features anymore if you use this plugin.

the support from wpbakery is poor.

beside that it would be a good plugin..

    Hi Baernty,

Can you provide a little more detail on the standard WordPress features that are removed with this plugin please? And the major bugs you mention?

Do you happen to know of any alternatives?

  6. I just build this one : http://wp-editor.com
No longer need shortcode, you can add boxes, buttons, and columns easier, Because everything is visual.

I plan to build more wp-editor add-on, such as tabs, accordion, toggles, etc.

    All free to download.

Image using custom plugin like this for restaurant site (create list of menus).
It will be a lot easier, food menus don' really need their own pages.

Or maybe create one page website easier.

Visual Composer is continuing to improve. It is interesting that something this useful hasn't been a part of the ongoing improvement of WordPress or perhaps jetpack but then you could say that about a lot of plugins. This is one of the things that makes wordpress great, that it can be extended and improved and the best solutions are found via the market.

  8. Visual Composer is a great way to make WP easier to use for people that dont know html and css. Once set up they can use it immediately. I am in for this idea.

The guys at pootlepress are working on something similar for canvas theme too which if we didn't use VC i would be likely to be experimenting with, http://www.pootlepress.com/shop/page-builder-for-woothemes-canvas/

thanks jezweb , this looks interesting ... if i'm not mistaken, unlike VC, it allows multiple use from one e-mail address.
{1} is that assumption correct? {2} does anyone have experience with <http://wp-editor.com> or with <http://www.pootlepress.com/shop/page-builder-for-woothemes-canvas/> ?
