    1. Upload the no-place-like-home directory to /wp-content/plugins/
    2. Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress

    If your blog is set to show a page instead of posts as the site's home page, a house icon should now appear next to the home page under Pages. If you have also chosen a page to show your most recent posts, it will have the pushpin icon next to the title.

    If that were the case, there'd have to be a central repository. We have this for plugins. Not all plugins are available through this though. I don't upload my plugins there, for example.

    Themes: now that's a whole different beast. The problem here is many theme authors don't want to license their themes with GPL. WordPress, and Matt has stated this, will get the theme repository back online at some point, but all themes on there must be GPL.

    So, I don't see this as being a likely feature for themes anytime soon, at least not good themes. Maybe plugins though.
