Uninstall.php in plugin ! Why not ?

  1. Jam Viet

When i test many plugin to choose the best one to use, there's a lot of data in database that not remove automaticaly ! So why we add a function that look for uninstall.php file in plugin to do it ?

  2. It's optional for the plugin dev. We don't force them to do this.

    Hi Mika,

I agree with Jam. I think that it would be very helpful to have the option to remove the DB stuff that they add when the plugin is installed. I don't think it should be a forced thing where the removal of a plugin forces the DB clean up (there are times when I want to leave it there). But, it should definitely be something that the Devs are forced to offer to us. There's nothing worse than trying to clean up the mess that someone else leaves on your site.

  4. It's not currently possible, from a technical perspective, to do so cleanly and safely for all content, so it's left in the hands of the plugin devs to ensure they clean up on uninstall. We do not force it since there are cases where doing so would be a bad idea.
