Title as Link (Seperate Title and Permalink)

One thing I really like about the blogs I have seen using, I think, Moveable Type is that the title of the post can be used as an outside link as opposed to being the permalink for the post.

For instance a href="http://daringfireball.net/Daring Fireball/a (a blog I love) uses this method. The permalink is indicated by a small star symbol on each of his posts.

This can already be done at theme-level.

You could use a custom meta-field to store the URL that want to link the title to, then display that field in your theme template.

You'd need to hire a wp-theme developer to help you out with that. Try the wp-pro mailing list.

Ooooof! Hire a theme developer?! Waaaaaaay out of my league there. So, hopefully, I will be able to do it "out of the box" with the next edition of WordPress.

Not core functionality, leave at theme level.
