Set allowed HTML tags in comments

    Hi,
in comments.php we can find the function "allowed_tags()". To set the allowed tags I have to edit the core files, and do that again after each update.

So why there ist no option to set the allowed tags in the backend of WP?

    Best regards from Germany,
    Markus

Hear! Hear! I want to disallow “<b>” and “<i>” without hacking the core!

I agree on this. Is there no plugin that can do this?

This is so true. I can hack kses.php, but this clearly should be a basic admin function.

    Completely agree.
Now we need to hack it, but that's not the right way :|

It's too late to make 3.0, but it could maybe be added for 3.1? Although that'd just be adding new options into the WP Core that not everyone might want to use, your best bet would be plugin territory!

After a quick look, I couldn't find anything though!
