Self Hosted Video Featured Image

Greetings - the fact that WordPress users can now, and have for some time, been able to host and display their own videos is a wonderful thing. The fact you can make a video playlist is even better right!?

The problem is this, you upload a video and then have to go to media library, edit and set a featured image. This is not a great solution and is disruptive to a workflow.

May I propose that when you upload a video via add media in a post / page etc that you can set the Featured Image.

Another wonderful addition would be to set a default featured image for all uploaded videos once. This way you could set this up for clients so when they upload video media to a post etc they don't need to do anything else, but if they do set an image specifically it would overwrite the default image setup.

I can create some example screenshots to help visualize what I mean if needed.

    Hi psychicsoftwareguy ,

no that's not what I mean sorry - I explain everything in the original post :)

This is not a video thing particularly, but rather how you have to go through a strange work flow for something that should be simple.

The importance of setting the image rather than a particular or random frame is that people can set something very particular. Very important to encourage clicks or for marketing.

It's a specific image now - the point is that you have to upload the video, then come out of that and go to media, then in media you edit the item, then you upload and set a featured image, then you save, then you go back to your post or page - no need for all of this.
