Replace Uploaded Files and Organize Media

Replacing pics is not easy in the core and also with the here mentioned plugins it is not perfect. It would be very beneficial if files can be replaced in an easy way by the upload function.

  2. Thanks, the plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/enable-media-replace/ is working well, but i think this has to be implemented in the core as this should be a basic function!

You can edit the original image in Media Library and it saves over itself.

    >Go to Media Library
    >Click on your image
    >Click the Edit Image box underneath the picture
    >Takes you to a page that lets you scale or crop etc.
    >Don't forget the "Apply Changes To" on the bottom left of the pane.

It's a bit clunky to get used to but it does work.

I don't know how long this has been part of WordPress core but I was really happy when I came across this.

It's been there for about 6 years, but it doesn't 'replace' the upload with a new image, which is definitely a valid annoyance!

I have to agree. It would be a great feature if you could replace pictures directly in the media library. That would save a lot of time.
