Replace media library image

When you decide to replace an image, you should be able to do it directly in the media library. After replacement, the old image including the lower sizes should be deleted, all the lower sizes of the new image should be automatically generated (until now nothing new), but most of all, all the posts and places where the old image was included, should be updated with the new image.
Example: you have an image embedded in the home page, the same image is the featured image of a blog post, and you also have it in a widget. It would be great to go in the media library, replace that image and automatically have the new image in the home page, in the blog post and in the widget.

I actually Recommend this idea. If developers could create a field that would help us replace images by ID, it would be awesome.

Just like post titles, we have to edit it in one place only. Everywhere else it gets updated automatically.

But the con is if used carelessly, it could create more problems then solve it.

I definitely support this idea. Currently it is just circumstantial in my opinion.

It should be a useful idea for saving time if we have an image is used in several posts or pages.

With the new posts, we can use the shortcode. The pain comes from the existing posts or pages, we need to replace the link in the content in the database or massage it before showing.

Jose it should be very useful if WordPress consider this as of now to replace media library image features like this. Lets wait for mods to see this thread so they can think over it.

  6. Hello,
that's a great idea. Actually, I had never thought about it but I regularly replace images on my customers' sites and it takes hours to modify the images one by one or you have to modify them in the database directly. Anyway, it's complicated.
I therefore support the idea 200%.

This would be a very nice option as it sometimes really takes a lot of time to replace images especially with a lot of customers.

Please do this. I have 6000 images and a huge amount of pages. I discovered that a Photoshop feature was not working as expected. It worked, but the image sizes are all twice the size they can be. Think about how long it is going to take to replace these. I will probably have it done before whatever it is to fix this, Lets us all know if there is a fix.
