Provide wordpress.com's OpenID Identity Server to local installs as a plugin

    The Identity server running at wordpress.com is freaking slick.

    Release it as a plugin for the rest of your installed users!!!

    Excellent idea - Both OpenID Server, and OpenID consumer(?).

    wordpress.com is not a consumer (yet).
    Hopefully soon.

    But that server is freaking nice. The installed wordpress users need it :-).

  5. I've been looking at this for a couple of weeks and I'll probably make it my next WordPress project.

    Anybody can use the WordPress.com server as an OpenID delegate by simply adding this to their blog's theme (probably in header.php):

    <link rel="openid.server" href="http://USERNAME.wordpress.com/?openidserver=1" />
    <link rel="openid.delegate" href="http://USERNAME.wordpress.com/" />

    It's a solution that currently works, if you want to use it. Not the same as running your own server, but.. meh.

    The OpenID plugin now provides this functionality for both WordPress and WordPress MU.
