Plugin search filter by WP version

  1. Paul Menard

Let's be honest there are some very old plugins already on the http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins site. Would be not to see an option to filter plugin that only support a specific version or range or WordPress. Or another idea is to filter plugins that have actually been updated in the last x months. Hard to believe there are plugins that have not been updated since 2.0

I'm glad i'm not the only one with this idea. I love the fact of having WordPress 2.5.1, but I hate sifting through every Plug-In just to find out that they are not compatible with this version yet. A simple filter would be an easy addition.

    Yes, I agree whole-heartedly.

I'd also add that there are popular key plugins that don't work smoothly with [now] core WordPress functions like updating from WordPress itself... why bother having a notice in the plugins admin that there is a new version of a plugin and offer the link to update automatically if it doesn't work?

Reward those great developers who maintain their plugins in a responsible way by keeping them at the front of the line... so to speak. Can't be bothered? Get to the back.

A filter is a great idea... And those that are compatible with the latest version are front and center on the first page.

It would also be nice if there were 3 (or more) categories for updating a plugin listed right in that nag about being a new version available... for example,

    security []
    bug fixes []
    features []
    compatibilty []
    other []

so that it's immediately clear how important the update is.
