Password Protect Category

If I want to have an entire category that is accessible only to members of the blog, instead of the messy password protecting each post left up to members the admin should be able to have the entire category protected.

This would be nice. I have wanted to transfer one of my Livejournal accounts into a WordPress category and password protect it (and have the ability to not have it show up on the sidebar to those not logged in).

I agree. You can create a password protected pages, but you cannot write messages on that page, like at the homepage.
With a password protected category, it is (for instance) possible to filter 'Family'-blogs, which of course are not public.

Yes, something like this would be great! I'd even like to see it go further to be a complete membership management system.

  5. I think you might find Justin Tadlocks Members plugin quite handy, or useful, to achieve what you're after! :) You can setup whatever permissions you like!

Updates are being made, which means a more enhanced plugin!
