Option to set where thumbnails are cropped from

    We need to be able to set where we want out thumbnails to crop so we don't have to use timthumb

    I absolutely support this.

    An image gallery full of portrait photos of people comes out like a headless massacre.

    We need the ability to tell WordPress to crop form top.

    Not the most important thing but I would definitely use it if it was there.

    Up to now, one always has to take care that the picture is a square already to make it work...

    would be great to see this feature soon, really needed with multi-author blogs, would save a great deal of time for new-ish authors unfamiliar with how it works.

    Yep! I think with all the websites being exploited using timthumb it would be nice not have to use it.

    This functionality is implemented with an additional crop parameter for the add_image_size function since v3.9.
