Option to hide the upgrade notification

I like the new upgrade notification, but I think I should be able to hide it once I've already seen it. Sort of like a "snooze bar". The same goes for plugin upgrade notification. To be honest, there are some plugins I'm never going to upgrade, so I'd rather just not see the notification at all on those.

Yes, that's a useful idea. A little 'X' next to the notification to close it for that session maybe? Or even better, the notification to show up just on the admin dashboard so it is still visible and you can remember to upgrade at some point but it doesn't show up on every admin page.

I agree. For those of us who will get to it at our leisure, it would be great to disable this.

Something else that's quite annoying is that users *other than admin* get to see this upgrade notification when logged into the blog.

Instead of saying "upgrade now", it says "please contact the site administrator" as if *anyone* other than a site's admin needs to see that message.

Yes, it is quite annoying sometimes. I upgraded 3 weeks ago and now I get yet another upgrade notice.

@sweetdeal - that's a good point! I didn't realize that other users see it. That is kind of inappropriate, in my opinion.

For now, I've just commented it out of the /wp-admin/includes/update.php file, although that's a pretty lousy solution.
