I've written a plugin that allows you to update plugins with a single click (works only for plugins listed on WordPress.org) -
One Click Plugin Updater
+1 for plugins, +0 for themes (I think plugin install should be first, at the very least).
Very much needed!!
I think it's only a matter of time when Core WordPress Upgrades, Plugin Upgrades and Theme Installs/Upgrades all become either automatic, or able to be done through the back end somehow.
True, for not-so-technical users, the current way of installing/updating things might be "challanging"...
Shouldn't be hard to implement. In addition to already present plugins to download/unzip, only thing left is enable them with that same click. And putting into the WordPress (not plugin), is a must, as it is a bit pointless to expect someone to install a plugin to solve his issues with installing them.
Nice one, I like this idea.
Plugin Installer is built into 2.7.
Plugin install has been implemented in core. Since each thread in this forum should be about one idea, not two, am closing this topic. A new thread could be started for theme installer, but chances are it will be incorporated into 2.8 release anyway.
