Why isn't there any WordPress Certified Developer/Development Exam?

Because it's impossible to make any exam that would cover everything of value, be worthwhile, and be updated.

Doesn't the same go for all exams Mika?
I think it has to do with that simply no one wants to offer this.

    Yes and no.

Maths exams are pretty standard because mathematics hasn't changed much. Legal exams change a LOT and illustrate the serious issues of upkeep, management, maintenance, and accuracy. To which, passing the Bar exam in some US states is incredibly easy and in other states it's mindbogglingly difficult. And furthermore, having a license to practice law in one state does _NOT_ automatically confer it in others (there are reciprocity agreements established to link the ones who feel they're similar).

So. To do this and make it worth ANY value, it would have to have some general oversight that enough (not everyone - thats' impossible) would agree to, and people would have to keep up the standards and re-test every few years.

It's not 'simply' that no one WANTS this, it's that it's extremely impractical and onerous to even attempt it.

@rashmisoni in generell thats a good idea, it would be also great for new freelancers for the beginning

@Mika I saw on different freelancer sites some kind of testing in programming, so the freelancers get some programming tasks (depend on their qualification) which they have to solve in short time, the system does automatically track the skills and compare to others.

Maybe could this be a way to certify skills ?

i would be good idea to be certified from a reputable organisation, it will support new wordpress programmers, it's like what Zend PHP Certification, it evaluates employees and to be recognised for your wordpress expertise.

Actually you can get a Freelancer.com wordpress certificate. Sure, it's not official, but that's exactly what freelancers need to get started.

  9. Although we are getting the Badges on our activity like Plugin Developer, Translation Contributor etc. But getting a certificate like "Certified WordPress Developer" will be really amazing and fruitful and will help us in our career growth considerably.

I think if other competing technologies are providing such certificate they why WordPress not? This will also help in enhancing our WordPress Skills.

I support this idea and I hope this will be implemented soon. Thanks!

none, at least none developed or endorsed by automattic. wordpress has so many use cases and there are so many different roles one can hold within wordpress ecosystem. on the counts of that, there would be need for an array of different certificates. programming certificates even when they actually exist bring little to no value to their holders
