Multiple Charset and Translation Support

  1. kevintracy

I admittedly don't know much about MySQL databases. But it irritates me that I can't copy-paste non-Latin characters (ABCD) into my blog posts. What irritates me more is that people are leaving non-Latin comments on my blog and they're just showing up as '???????????'.

Is it possible to do something to fix this out of the box or create a plugin to approve multiple types of characters?

Ideally, this would then lead to a plugin that would translate the foreign comment text into other languages too, thus allowing for a truly international discussion and allowing our blogs to come up in international internet search results.

  2. WordPress makes its best to set the proper encoding settings when creating MySQL tables. Apart from that, bad MySQL configuration can't be fixed by WordPress.

You should make sure that your blog charset is set to UTF-8, that your theme has the correct UTF-8 meta tags and you should consult your host about MySQL configuration.
