Multi Site option during initial installation

When I install WordPress I will normally finish the initial install and then add the MU options. Why not have a check box or option that allows you to set up a network of sites while installing WordPress for the first time.

Yes, there are actually several things that could be improved in the current "installer" - such as for example security-related things (db/table prefix, admin name etc)

Maybe simply some "advanced setup" procedure - providing also other settings, i.e. to disable the created default page and comment?

A good foundation might be the wp-core-tweaks plugin: http://www.seoautomatic.com/plugins/wp-core-tweaks/

Some of this is being worked on in 3.3

    * db/table prefix doesn't make anything more or less secure. That's security by obscurity and it doesn't matter at the end of the day.
    * The default page and post is a requirement to have some content in the DB so you can SEE your install is there. The comment could probably go, but I suspect it's there so newbs know what a comment looks like.
    * you can already rename your admin as of 3.0 IIRC - I know you can in 3.2

I say this next bit as a regular volunteer in the WP Forums specifically for multisite:

Part of the reason you don't get to say 'And make it MultiSite!' on install is that running a multisite is more complicated than running singlesite, and if the idea of editing your wp-config.php file manually is abhorrent then you really have no business running MultiSite (especially when subdomain installs involve things like vhosts and httpd.conf tweaks). It's a bar to say 'You need to master some skills to play here.'
