Line Numbering in the Editor

It would be easier to locate code if there were line numbers in the editor.

Definitely this is a good idea, I usually use WP to edit my code , instead of downloading and editing with a proper editor, so would be really good if we can have some features like : line numbers or even code highlight or other into WP editor.

Most people probably bring the code into their own code editor.

This is a good idea for the UI to have. It's cool that someone went through the trouble of making a plugin fo r it. Nevertheless when wordpress spits out an error because of malformed php code some functionality was just added to 3.6.1 or 3.7 that disables the plugin it occurred in instead of white-screening the site. In the built-in editor there is the option IIRC to 'save and re-enable plugin'.

I think a very small column of numbers to go in to the editor has some merit here.

I'd like to find line 490 (example) by typing. I would like to find line 490 also by scrolling. Is this possible?
