I would REALLY love to have this feature. A Post Type array attribute to the add_image_size would be huge and save a tremendous amount of space.

Absolutely necessary. Have a site with 10,000+ images and our theme needs various sizes. Well every image now has 7 different sizes so that is 70,000+ images. Not every image needs to be in every size and it is eating up the server space.

  7. Just came across this. Yeah, it would definitely help when you have plenty of photos and images. No need to resize them all.

Will look if this can be made into a plugin.

+1 god knows why nobody has made this feature. It would speed up the image upload process, and reduce the amount of unused images.
