Integrate OpenID Consumer
Turning on the Registration requirement is annoying.
Requiring some user metadata is not a bad thing.
Across blogs all around the internet, there is no happy medium. (Until now.)
Implementing an OpenID consumer (optionally with attribute exchange as defined in OpenID's 2.0 spec) would make things so brutally simple, it's not worth it to continue down the line with 'fragmented identites'.
Please don't change this to 'you can do this with a plugin'. This should take over the registration/user management functions of WordPress.
*I* am doing it with a plugin for now, but that only takes care of me. I want OTHER people to be able to (more easily than I) consume OpenID identities without much effort.
I'm tired of all these logins and would like to see one for all WordPress blogs, but if it has to be a plugin at least bundle it with WordPress.
I am the happy(?) owner of about 57 user accounts to various forums, wikis, blogs, webmails and other services, many of which I only used for a very short period of time. This is a management nightmare. I vote for OpenId.
And your name is very appropriate, in context :).
Oh god please do it!!!!!,
Question!, Can openID somehow recognize your role within a CMS?
If so, this would make (wp, bb)press integration STUPID simple.
I'm spreading the word. Digg, Reddit, and everything.
I think should be done in a add-in
If the rest of you folks haven't yet, PLEASE go vote on the other one!
(Jyte users, go there too.)
Search didn't find it because I searched for 'OpenID' and not 'Open ID' *sigh*
I have an idea for the ideas section... but that comes later.
