Improve the plugins page

    1. The search stinks. When you search, it should be matching the plugin title first, then description. For example, when search for "cache" ( http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=cache ), "WP-Cache" should appear BEFORE "Simple Tags".

    2. On this page: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ , the "Featured Plugins" area is wasted space-- it's hardly updated. The sidebar content would be better off in the main area, and 15 of each (Most Popular/Newest/Recently Updated) could be used instead of 6.

    The problem is that good new plugins aren't given a fair chance to be featured. Once they fall from the "Newest Plugins" list, it's extremely hard for them to get noticed again. Ideas?

    I definitely agree we need better search capability for extensions.

    We need advanced search where we can specify which field should contain which values.

    Also I have read through every plugin tagged "post", "admin", or "widget" now I would like to read through all the rest in age order, but I need a way to exclude those tags.

    Anyone wanting better search please vote for this request.
