i think it woud be good if readers could make the font smaller or larger from the sidebar, i think it would not be too hard for soeone with experience to jquery to write a widget or plugin....
Also good for wordpress.com's writers and readers.

Yeah :)
You can change the font on any page by holding down ctrl key and pressing the + - keys or using the scroll on a mouse. Does that address the problem?
As said, in all browsers I know, you can change the font size by pressing Ctrl + or Ctrl -. Also there is a menu in the browser to do that.
Every time I see this suggestion, someone points out that it is already possible using keyboard shortcuts or browser tools.
Yes, but please take a moment to think about the users we are trying to serve who would actually need to increase font size. Many of mine are older, and they have no idea that this can be done using (confusing) keyboard tricks or (unknown) browser tools. Which means we have to mess up the design of our site to include ugly text instructions in a large enough font size for them to read. Which does not match the font on the page and kills design.
There's already a WordPress.org widget - WP-chgFontSize - for those who don't know. If it would be possible to make that widget a default option at WordPress.com, that would be incredible. Thanks.
