Feedback to determine if plugin is Multisite (network enabled) compatible.

It's not easy to determine which plugins are "Network enabled" capable. On the Network Admin side of things maybe WP should be able to inform you of this info.

WP only can if the author does it (i.e. flags a plugin as being wpmu compatible) or locks in to making it only network enableable. There's not a one way to check for that, as many plugins actually just work fine network activated, without the authors ever knowing.

    Thank you for explaining this.

I see now it's not an issue of having multi-site specific usage. I guess it would be better to ask next what would make a plugin NOT play well with Network enabled setting. Something like..

A plugin will likely have problems when Network enabled if it...

I ask because I want to avoid issues with plugins that I might create as well.

    Thanks again!

Generally a plugin will have issues when network enabled if it has ONE database table it creates to store all it's data, and it doesn't take into account the fact that MultiSite has wp_#_ type tables for each site :)

If you're just making additions to the wp_options tables, that generally multiplies cleanly.

But this is more a question for the wp-hackers email list at this point.
