Enhanced editor

Wouldn't it be good to have an option to switch editor buttons as you like it?
Techno geek needs more headings, code, superscripts and subscripts.
Socially oriented blogger may uses often blockquotes, links and emphasis.
People writing pages needs more subheadings. People writing posts don't.
At least h1 - h6 should be available in editor by default.

This is the second "better editor" suggestion I have found this far.

Try ALT+V (IE) or ALT+SHIFT+V (Firefox). It will get you a toolbar full of advanced options like the ones you're asking for.

I agree though that it should be possible to have that on by default.

Thank you codeispoetry. I am using Opera and even if there is a keyboard shortcut available, it is practically unusable.

It should be on by default, or there should be an option in the User Preferences that allows you to enable it for a user, or there should be a toggle button on the standard tool bar.

The arcane Alt + Shift + V key combination is the dumbest idea I've ever seen from WordPress.

This would be an easy, easy one to fix.

There is a toggle, looks like a color picker. For more WYSIWYG options, there are plenty of plugins.
