Desired Feature: Invite People to Follow Blog

   Hello!

   I think it will be very useful for many to have implemented in the next version of WordPress a feature that already exists on WordPress.com based blogs, namely "Invite People to Follow Your Blog", just like is explained in this thread: http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/
   What do you think? Have you already received this kind of request for a new feature? Do you think it might be implemented in the new versions?

   I have literally spent hours trying to find this option on WP.Org as it is such a great function on WP.com.

   Actually, I managed to use it with Jetpack by WordPress.com and Follow Button for Jetpack plugins. Also, you need to have an account on WordPress.com

   Thanks for replying, I have both of those and I don't think they'll work for what I'm looking for.

   I run multi-sites and I have one that is a private blog that I want to invite people to so they can view it but not let others see it. Is that similar to what you were able to do?

   If not, I'll keep looking :)

   "Invite People to Follow Your Blog" won't work the same way on a SINGLE install of WordPress. The way it's coded on wp.org is for Multisite.

   Jetpack's perfect for single site.

   Multisite you generally want to grown your own form, and it's a beast of an entirely different color. Look for Members plugins.

   My problem is slightly different. When a new (non WordPress) user reads my blog and wants to sign up to follow, they have to go through WordPress and create a password, it's very strange.

   Before, I think they could just give their email address, then verify it and they were in. It's affecting the number of followers I have and I can't figure out how to change it. Can anyone help???????
