Deactivation of attachment page

    As neither me or anyone of my clients needs the attachment page, it would be fine to be able get entirely rid of it.

    Could be a flag in wp_config.php:
    define ('WP_ATTACHMENTPAGE', false);

    Then there should be no more possibility to set a link to this attachment page, remaining "none" and "media".

    Thank you, but can you name some of them? I just find tons of redirect functions and plugins and plugin settings (Yoast SEO), but no deactivation (since I don't want redirects either, I want to keep the lightbox effect).

  3. A redirect is functionally the same as a disable.

    For me a disabling means that I cannot even choose to link to the attachment page, because the option does not exist an longer. I can only link to the media file itself or nowhere.

    A redirect means, that a click on the image leads to another page/post, but I want to keep a lightbox effect.
