  2. At this point this should be in core. Lets get away from plugins for things most commonly used, it just makes sense.

    Maybe I am not getting it, but in File: wp-includes/media.php:

    function add_image_size( $name, $width = 0, $height = 0, $crop = false ) {
    global $_wp_additional_image_sizes;

    $_wp_additional_image_sizes[ $name ] = array(
    'width' => absint( $width ),
    'height' => absint( $height ),
    'crop' => $crop,

    Wouldn't that explain the feature?

    It's irritating that I have to set a value for all my uploaded images manually. I really wish wordpress would implement all that stuff and more into the core, so it wouldnt be necessary to have dozens of different plugins.

    I think WordPress should include some more features from scratch.
    Image cropping should be a core feature.

    WordPress cannot include all possible features. It allows for image cropping and plugins can extend the feature to crop image sizes.

    Plugins make sense. :)

    Do you know how to add Photos that have different sizes for different screen sizes? I have not found anything for that, not even a plugin :(

  9. For the people who are struggling with this issue, there are plugins existing which can be useful for this. Some of them are:

    1) Advanced Custom Fields: Image Crop Add-on
    2)Gallery by Robo – Responsive Image Photo Gallery

    Hope it helps. Cheers!
