Ideas

cropping should apply to custom image sizes

At the moment, when you crop (or do anything else to) an image in the Media Library, the default is to "Apply to all sizes". However, this doesn't seem to include the images defined with add_image_size.

The way the core is coded seems to make it difficult if not impossible to hook into the process to add this functionality. Even if it was possible, I think this should probably be part of the core.

Agree 100%! As we go toward responsive HTML 5 themes, custom cropping becomes essential. Please make this happen soon!

I Agree with the idea to include the custom sizes!

a list with defined image sizes to choose from (Editing images independently) would be even greater: Sometimes you just want to crop or edit 1 specific image size.

Custom sizes would be a fantastic feature. I would definitely love to see it in the next WordPress update.

I want to reduce the number of activated plugins, not get more and more of them... :D So yes, stuff like this should be implemented in the core in my opinion.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but having a plugin add in the function needed to change how images crop and having yourself add in the code in a function file are fundamentally the same.

This can b done via functions, which is the direction WP chooses to go in order to balance out flexibility and functionality, without overwhelming people with too many options.

If you're looking for a setting in WP admin, you'll need a plugin.
