Could the export file include links?
Export/Import would seem to be core functions, but I've noticed that there is an Import plugin that must add additional features. Is there also an Export plugin that includes things like the site's links? Or could links be added to the core Export/Import?
You can export your links by visiting http://yourblog.com/wp-links-opml.php and then use the Save File option in your web browser (usually by clicking File -> Save As… but the exact wording may vary depending on your browser).
What about import?
You can import it by using the normal WordPress import tool :)
I tested this on WordPress.com -> WordPress.com. The export file had two categories. The original import failed.
I then created the two categories in the receiving blog. I could pick one of those to be the category for all the imported links, and could go in and rearrange things.
It'd be nice if the import honored the category structure of the import file -- creating the new categories if required. [And I still think it'd be better if the links for WordPress->WordPress options were handled as part of the WordPress export/import.]
