    Hello,

the new Menu Management with WP 3.0 is great. But i would like to see an improvement on this Function:

It would be great to have the possibility to have an collapsible Menu like the Fold Page List Plugin by Rob Schumann.

I agree, and also love the custom menus in v3. When creating a large amount of parent and child menu items this can turn into a very tedious task. The menu items are fairly large and having to scroll to find what parent menu you are trying to target can be confusing. Having the child menu items collapse into the parent items or utilizing multiple columns would be a welcome design improvement.

    +1 on this!

When building larger menus, especially ones with deep levels, it gets very cumbersome to add a new page. It drops to the bottom, and is very hard to move upwards beyond that is shown on the screen already.

Having a way to collapse the menu would allow for an easier way to drap and drop.

Another feature that could help would be an option to "move to the top" link on a menu item. That way if I have 50 menu items and want the newest one to be placed #6 in the order of items, it would be easier to click a link that moved the desired menu item up to #1 and then drag it down from there.

How about this for an idea...

Before the menu feature came about in WP 3.0, I used a plugin that allowed you to exclude a page from the navigation (Exclude Pages, I think it is called.)

One idea may be to have a Menu section, in which when you are editing the page (or writing a new one) you click the Menu button and like the media interface, the menu section opens for you to edit the menu right then. The biggest downside I have found for end users is that they need to know to go to the menu section and make an edit.

Another option, maybe trimmed down from the first, would be again a Menu Section, and it lists the available menus. With a checkbox you can add the page to desired menus. maybe even a dropdown for adding to beginning or end of the menu. If the user needs to further edit the menu, they can then go to the menus page to customize.

I know that the menu's allow for a checkbox to Automatically add top level pages, and in some cases, this may be just fine. But having the ability to quickly add/subtract a page from any/all menus while editing the page would make for a much faster and easier way for users to manage content.

Anyway, those are a couple ideas I have to help the menus.

I'd kill for this feature right about now. I'm using a local install of wordpress to organize world building and character information for a novel I'm writing and I've only just begun and my menu is already HUGE.

I HIGHLY agree. Could someone please work on this feature.

I would be willing to pay to help get it done. I have a lot of menus I want to use.

The current way to move menus up and down is absolutely tedious and painful when there are a lot of menus present.

Yes Please!!! Very tricky to add a child page to the first parent page and have it be listed at the very bottom only to have to be dragged all the way up to the top. Collapsible parent menus would be great!

I also was looking for a similar feature

    @allseoexperts:
I am not a fan of Drupal by any means, but this is one area where they actually make sense in what they do. When you are editing a page, you have the ability to edit the page's location in the menu as well as the ability to edit the page's sidebar(s) content. While neither are very intuitive in the way it is done, the fact that it is an option is nice.

With the natural intuitive feel of WP, I am sure that the WP way of integrating these features (menus and sidebars) to the page editor would make perfect sense. For the time being, these two features are somewhat "detached" from the page editing functionality, and are definitely still in the "blogging" mentality. I would love to see WP add this sort of functionality as it matures as a CMS system.

In the meantime, if we don't see this added, I am going to +1 more for the collapsible menus!
