    I developed one here: http://www.ajaxtown.com/facebook-type-link-preview/

Once i get little free time, i will bundle this in one plugin. This surely will be helpfull.

I am looking exactly for the same solution. A plug-in that allow me to post third party posts from a URL without creating a new post.

It will allow me (and maybe users)to generate an excerpt from any URL and assign it to the post categories. In the front end this 'third party posts' will adapt to the blog post style (image size, title size and font style,etc..).

I would love this functionality would be build by default in wordpress but any plug-in would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

I have not looked closely enough at 4.0 but I thought this was something introduced in 4.0?

In 4.0 if there's an oembed, it will auto-display.

Read that to better understand why we can't just do ANY embed, though. It's security for the most part.

That is not exactly what I am looking for :(, even if it works, for SEO purposes (duplicate and low quality content) i am not interested in creating a new post page for every 'third party post'

    You ask the impossible.

You want to not make a post but have it be styled like your site with a unique URL. That would be called "making a new post."

You have no control over third parties, nor can WP grant you that control.

FB preview are basically iframes, but even so, you have to put the link foe the third party somewhere.

Hi, I might didn't explain correctly (im not English native speaker). I dont want to create a unique URL for that 'third party post', the idea is that this external post keep their original URL but get publish in the frontend with the same style as my blog.

But the users, will see it as the own post with the difference that when they click on it, it will redirect to the original source (similar to what the new Digg website does).

What I want is to publish both my own posts along with 'third party articles' just by generating them for their URL, and without creating a post in my blog (and that theu can be assigned to post categories)

Yeah, so Digg's actually making posts that just link remotely. They are, literally, making new posts.

That's how you do it :/ Make a post, make it link externally.
