After clicking Update in a post or page, add an "Updated at: .." time stamp below the "Published on" line in the Publish section:

    • Updated at: 8:45:09 AM PST 8/19/14

And/or: change the "Post Updated. View post" line at the top to include a timestamp:

    || Post Updated 8:25:09 AM PST 8/19/14 - View post

When repeatedly modifying & updating a page, especially when trying to nail down CSS tweaks or other layout challenges, it can be easy to forget if you hit update when you're over on the live page viewing your changes. "Did I update that? Or am I looking at the previous verson?" Over time, especially with big pages with long page load/update times... these add up!

Also would be quite useful for teams of page devs & editors to know if/when posts or pages were last updated.

There are a lot of options for that for both front and back end - https://wordpress.org/plugins/tags/modified
