In wordpress install, on plugin pages, description of plugin shows link to author and plugin site but not to the wordpress directory. Most of the time plugin is accessed from the directory and not from the authors personal site.

    here is an example:

"Used by millions, Akismet is quite possibly the best way in the world to protect your blog from comment and trackback spam. It keeps .......... save your API key."
Version 2.5.3 | By Automattic | Visit plugin site

    It should be like this

"Used by millions, Akismet is quite possibly the best way in the world to protect your blog from comment and trackback spam. It keeps .......... save your API key."
Version 2.5.3 | By Automattic | Visit plugin site | Visit WordPress Directory

and it pointing to the plugin location in the wordpress directory so that user should not have trouble to search for newer information if available again and again

Similar feature should also be made available for theme directory.

I believe this is on the 6-mile long to do list for UI. It didn't make it into 3.3, but it's been discussed many times.

I believe that wordpress repository provides clean, noninfected plugins that most of us will agree.

the same can't be said about the file located on external website.

this makes it much more important.
