I have tested many themes, free ones and premium ones. I've also tested some famous "framework+theme" and "framework-only" solutions.
This is my favorite. It's a framework with a nice clean default theme that lets you customize many things. It's based on Bootstrap and LESS CSS and it is perfectly responsive, with a very nice look and great functionalities.
Some reviews complain about the fact that it is not really free and you have to pay for the premium version.
I can't understand those silly complaints.
You can use a great free version of a bootstrap, drag and drop framework, with all the advantages of a frequently updated and super clean code professional framework, and if you want more features (the free version still has many), you can buy the pro version.
I like this framework so much.
I have been looking for a simple easy to edit theme for a while now and can now rest. Job done.
Very good interface, even for free edition
theme is having so many features which are good to development.
I just tried to upload the Pagelines theme and it has completely crashed my site - just getting a fatal error message now.
I started out with Pagelines a year ago and it completely changed the way I worked. Sites that would take me a day to create a working template were being finished in a couple of hours!
It's extremely flexible, The Professional and Developer editions have loads more features than the Lite edition, put that together with a little bit of Css and you're creating sites on the same caliber as some of the other 'premium template' themes out there, but to a layout and spec that you want. With the option to create your own child themes, add hooks and third party plugins, the possibilities become endless.
The more you learn and put into it, the more it gives back.
I've used all the recommended theme frameworks out there from Headway, Canvas (WooThemes), Gantry, StudioPress and so on. From my experience, PageLines Framework was the most enjoyable to work with.
After a few days working with PageLines, I quickly purchased the premium version and haven't looked back since. There custom service is unbelievable, the forum staff are really helpful, they don't just provide you with the answer to your question but also provide links to useful resources and alternative ideas.
If you're new to WordPress, I highly recommend you give PageLines a try.
We drifted in to wordpress in 2010 as a quick blogging solution, to supplement a heavy ASP coding arm of the business. PlatformPro Base was a theme our clients liked.
In response to corporate demand for highly customised WP sites, by 2012, we are now developing using Framework 7 days a week and ASP is a thing of the past.
What I like about Framework is we have been able to develop our own highly customised sections which we can then roll out to different clients in hours not days.
So in collaboration with our wider community, we are improving our custom Framework code for the benefit of all our clients almost every single day.
It's a testament to the Pagelines crew just how well this Framework has met client needs and impressed the hell out of them too!

I've been working with pagelines for half a year now, and I gotta say: There is nothing out there that is so exceptionally well designed and developed.
No matter if you are a total n00b, or if u have extensive php experience, Pagelines always has something in store for you.
I fell in love with Pagelines when I started using it, and was blown away by the functionality when I started developing my first php sections!
It is incredible how well structured Pagelines is, and how nice it is to develop on it.
And if you get stuck, don't worry... the PL support team is amazing. Never ever waited more than 24h for a reply!
Seriously, try it out... u will be amazed!
Almost the same as the pro level, with darn good support, this drag & drop framework makes easy work of setting up a website.
