This theme should be example for all other themes, as it gives you more option to can play around with.

This is a great theme, ready to go, easy to use - deserving of 5 stars, except for one issue. For the first few months it was working great, but with the last update to the theme, the slideshow stopped working. I disabled my plugins to make sure they weren't the problem. There are some work arounds on the forums and some have gone back to an earlier version of WP and found that worked for them. I just updated to WP 3.5.1 and the slideshow still isn't working. So, I'm waiting on the next theme update for the fix. One other thing I noticed is there are around 40 areas for widgets, which seems excessive to me, but maybe some of the larger sites with tons of members find them useful. It does have some additional features for groups that I'm not using at present.

I definitely love this theme as it's easy to handle, customize and one of rare theme you can do almost what you want even when you are a noob like me.
My favorite, but I should not say this as I don't wan't you to take it, I would be jalous :-)

I have used this theme for BuddyPress and now for WordPress and I find it to be one of the best themes available.
