Advanced CSV Importer plugin to import posts, pages, custom posts with custom fields with few simple clicks
Plugin seems to work well, although I've got a bit muddled about character encoding.
Had bug in 3.5 which was quickly responded to by the authors and mended within a few days.
Very good, active support in general.
1. UTF-8 support seemed to require an upgrade to the Pro version.
That was a big minus in my mind, but it turned to be a misunderstanding based on wording in the GUI.
2. Advertising of the pro version is a bit too aggressive.
As soon as I installed the plugin I already had a notification that I should upgrade.
Update: Feb 6, 2014
1) Upon clarifications from the author, I changed parts related to UTF-8 support
2) Subject was changed too (was: No UTF-8 in Free version, slightly overdone advertising of Pro version)
3) Rating upped from 3 to 4 stars
This plugin is awesome like its name. I tried several other plugins but found it very useful. Its easy to setup and works like a charm.
Thanks for the ultimate solution.
Very handy plugin. I built a website for an association, with 300+ members personal details. The data had to be uploaded from a CSV file, and inserted into a custom post type, with custom fields matched up. This plugin did a great job.
I was particularly pleased that it was able to insert data into custom taxonomies, not just post categories. Good to see you'd added that feature.
I'd like to see a facility to do this in reverse and export data from custom post types, fields and taxonomies back into CVS. I'd pay for a plugin that could do that.
Only problem I've experienced was that it appeared to time out on larger amounts of data. It had actually inserted everything, but it was worrying at the time. Suggestion: maybe give a bit more feedback during insertion, or maybe split larger amounts of data into several processes.
I've used Wp Ultimate CSV Importer Plugin for a few imports now, and it works very well under regular conditions.
However, if you turn on debugging (WP_DEBUG), this plugins spits out quite a few warnings and notices. You should get those fixed.
I also have a feature request:
You support meta fields, categories and tags well, but lack the support for custom taxonomies.
I'll definitly recommend this plugin. Thanks!
