Advanced CSV Importer plugin to import posts, pages, custom posts with custom fields with few simple clicks
I'm creating a niche directory and needed a professional and robust import tool to load cities, states and business profiles.
Many other plugins were available, however I wanted a plugin that was easy to use, powerful and would could save alot of time and energy initially as well as later on down the road.
This plugin accomplished that.
- Tons of features
- Connects to most popular modules (ACF, Woo, etc)
- Interface is well designed and easy to use.
While a great paid plugin is always a blessing for serious WP website owners, I must comment that the support received by smackcoders has been awesome.
I needed help installing. -- They helped within a few hours.
I needed help formating an import file -- They helped same day.
I needed help with usability for a unique import situation - They helped the following business day.
Having support around a tool is super nice to have, especially when I work on projects I like to knock them out and move on.
If you need an import tool that will save you a lot of time initially and later down the road, don't hesitate and know they will give you great support.
Not only does the free plugin not export a csv file, Excel does not recognize what the file is. Lets see, I should pay 149 for the pro version based on what I have seen from the free plugin and not being able to find a way to contact the developer on their site. Right@!!!
Needed a plugin to import over 2000 rows from a CSV with over 120 columns and convert the madness to well categorized posts. Had some small problem with the formatting of my CSV but the team at SmackCoders were able to trouble shoot and help me out! Thanks #teamsmackcoders
Excellent plugin. It works great.
I paid for the Pro version of this plugin in good faith as it said it worked with Advanced Custom Fields.
It turned out that while it is compatible with the basic ACF plugin, it does not support any of the ACF extensions such as Repeater.
When I asked them to add this support they asked me to share the ACF source code with them and said they would charge me, ACF were not happy with me sharing their code so I didn't.
Also, you can also only choose between a comma or a semi-colon as a delimiter which for importing any posts that have content or excerpts is a ridiculous limitation.
And it did not remove the tables it had created in the database nor the files it created in the uploads folder on deleting.
I ended up buying an alternative plugin from http://www.wpallimport.com which is $60 cheaper, isn't restricted to a single site and has a far superior interface.
This plugin proved to be unusable for me and despite the initial good customer service they refused to refund my money.
Their lack of disclaimer with regard to the ACF extensions is misleading, for this and the reasons abovce I've given it 1 star.
Plugin seems to work well, although I've got a bit muddled about character encoding.
Had bug in 3.5 which was quickly responded to by the authors and mended within a few days.
Very good, active support in general.
Thank you! Simple, Easy, Effective! I used this plugin to import 4,000 posts & it ran without a hitch! Imported titles, categories, and tags - no images.
I've been using this plugin for several months and it has usually worked well.
However I upgraded to the latest version (3.5) today and it is causing errors in the WordPress admin. Specifically:
Disabling WP Ultimate CSV Importer Plugin makes the problem go away, re-enabling brings it back again, so I'm sure it's a problem with this version of this plugin. The problem occurs in Firefox and Chrome.
This problem aside, it's a five-star plugin.
Just a great plugin. I'm using it to import my product CSVs. I had a small issue with the latest version, but they helped me out and I realized the problem was on my end.
The UI is great, easy to understand. Very happy with the free one, and looking to buy the premium plugin!
1. UTF-8 support seemed to require an upgrade to the Pro version.
That was a big minus in my mind, but it turned to be a misunderstanding based on wording in the GUI.
2. Advertising of the pro version is a bit too aggressive.
As soon as I installed the plugin I already had a notification that I should upgrade.
Update: Feb 6, 2014
1) Upon clarifications from the author, I changed parts related to UTF-8 support
2) Subject was changed too (was: No UTF-8 in Free version, slightly overdone advertising of Pro version)
3) Rating upped from 3 to 4 stars
