A very fast caching engine for WordPress that produces static html files.
Completely bricked my website (including the login admin panel). Tried deleting the plugin in the web space, but this had no effect.
Nightmare. Avoid avoid.
I had been using this plugin for a couple of years. After updating to WP 3.5.1 my site displayed white pages. The problem went away after deleting this plugin, however using the delete command for this plugin in the Admin panel corrupted my config file by replacing the first line. I traced the line to this plugin and replaced the config file to get the site working again. I tested a couple of other cache plugins and they all worked fine, so I believe the issue is with Super Cache, so I am now using Quick Cache.
I was having problems with changes to my pages not getting updated in a timely manner. Sometimes I would see the changes, then shortly after it would revert to the previous version. Other times I could only see the changes when I was logged in. After searching the forums, I found others solved these problems by getting rid of this plugin. I used the deactivate feature from the dashboard, but that didn't work, so I had to follow the manual delete instructions to finally remove everything. Everything seems to be working well again now that it's gone. Perhaps I was doing something wrong, but that was my experience anyway.
This plugin has a known vulnerability, as informed by my hosting service. I had the plugin installed and not activated and the vulnerability was still able to be exploited.
White Screen of Death on ALL pages of my WordPress including the login wp-admin page. Nightmare. Had to go in and delete the directory /wp-content/plugins/wp-super-cache in order to disable it. Don't recommend it at all.
Prevents scheduled posts from updating on time, successfully replicated on a secondary test installation. Would not recommend.
the absolute worst... wasting hours of my life and lost my entire website.
Very complicated to set up - messes up big time with BPS Security.
BUT the very worst thing is if I uninstall the plugin it messes up my wp-config.php file so everyone in the world can see the content.
BIG FAIL!!!!!
BTW, the error is that at the beginning of the wp-config.php file the following first line is missing:
<?php
WP super cache does not speed my site and it block the google robots so that the site wasn't properly indexed by the search engine
I just switched to W3 total Cache and it's magic !
So don't use WP super cache ....
