Reduce image file sizes and improve performance using the Smush.it API within WordPress.
I really like this plugin. My suggestion for future development would be to allow the bulk smush.it feature to target specific directories on your server. This way you could optimize every image in your theme folder, uploads folder, and even plugins folder... Maybe a simple form field that allows you to type in the server path to the folder you want to optimize images in.
Seems like a much needed feature. Especially for users that want to optimize every image reported by Google PageSpeed. So hard to satisfy but so satisfying to see your score go up!
Thanks again for all the hard work. 5 Stars!
Installing their plugins and use them at your own peril, as soon as you have one you get a message asking to also activate their dashboard.
The scary thing is there is no way of getting rid of this message unless you deactivate all of the plugins that you have installed, sadly their plugins are top notch but come with this malware.
If you don't install their dashboard plugin then this message will just keep bugging you until you do switch it on and then you get spammed even more to purchase more of their products.
Please wmpudev crew give your customers the option of switching this rubbish warning off!!
If you are anywhere serious about posting, your images will be already optimized for web when you upload them.
This plugin optimizes everything a little further; the gain will be of around 3%/4% lighter images.
I must say, the plugin does a very good job. Except that for a long time, I get an error when uploading media. But despite this error, is that the media are imported anyway Through the Library.
In theory this is a great plugin. But if you have an image heavy site with lots of large images, it won't help. Most images these days are much large than 1mb and, while it's true that users can downsample images locally, the point of this plugin is to make the process more streamlined especially for a WP site that has multiple 'lay' users.
I'd love to see a service that handles image compression for images with a 4-5mb file size, since this is pretty typical for images these days and that's were the bulk of image load time comes from.
Thanks for a super plugin guys. I had no idea that my page load time was being dragged down by the images.
The plugin nearly halved the time it took.
All I get is "bad response from smush.it" for every graphic on every site. Tried at least fifteen sites.
Just used for [Link removed] there was more than 10k images. Resuces capacity more than 50%.
It's works very well, thanks!!
It works but very slow, and sometimes erroneous.
