The leading web analytics plugin for WordPress
This plugin is simple and does the job well without impacting performance in any way. Also very swift and helpful response from the developer to support question. Highly recommended.
Clearly your company does not understand the meaning of "user experience." Yesterday, excited to find a plugin to track URLs that was compatible with my WP version and offered detailed metrics, I downloaded SlimStat. After installing, activating, and letting it collect data overnight, I was surprised to find a notice in the dashboard that reads: "we've decided to convert it into a paid product. More information will be available in the next few weeks. Stay tuned."...
HUH? "Stay tuned???" ...
I don't normally offer free advice but this lack of concern for me, the user, I feel obligated.
1. If your plugin costs money, mention that on your wordpress.org page! You mention premium add-ons and free add-ons but no mention of what the plugin costs.
2. I suspect this plugin used to be free? You're charging for something that you've given to 25,000 users for free? Most plugins are free to try for a period of time. I see no strategy here that accounts for the people who expect a free trial of your plugin. You can't just stop offering a free trial. Well, I guess you can if you don't have product development to code 2 products.
3. "Stay tuned" is all the info I get on going from free (I guess free...) to paid? Clearly, you haven't thought about this. Otherwise you would have come up with more than 2 words to tell us users what you are doing behind the scenes.
Good luck with your company. Seem to have a good product now, but without a strategy and the simplest of marketing communication, I don't see a future.
Great plugin, been using it for few weeks. Works very well.
In terms of improvement, I wish I could set the time zone when someone is viewing my site to either server location or my time zone. Right now it is off the charts, server is in US, I'm in Canada, most of my visitors are from US and time stamp is like +4 hours which is odd. Also I'd like to be able to set up my own dashboard so I don't have to jump back and forth from one place to another. Other than that great plugin. Thanks.
This Plugin is Very empowering.
In the last update, WP-slimstat chose to ENABLE their automatic ads.
Send anonymous data about user agents to our server for analysis. This allows us to contribute to the BrowsCap opensource project, and improve the accuracy of WP SlimStat's browser detection functionality. It also enables our transparent ads network. No worries, your site will not be affected in any way. The extra income is completely invested in making WP SlimStat a better product, as you can see from our FREE PREMIUM support service that most of our users love.
OUR SITES WERE AFFECTED!!!!
I don't know where you're from, but unauthorized ad hijacking of a website is not only immoral, but when it also messes up the site as well IE: adding "http://wwww.wordpress.org" to EVERY post on a site that has thousands of posts and over 450k page views per day - causing undue hours of work to find the issue - just so you can hijack someone's site to show YOUR ads.
I want to know where we can get a statement of ads shown, revenue gained from said unauthorized ads (especially on a site like ours that PROMOTES AD FREE WEBSITES) So that we may file for our lost revenue, and percentage of revenue from OUR sites having to host YOUR ads involuntarily.
Changing my review.
This would be a great plugin but the developer is very slow or in answering support questions. Or maybe he just does not care. Sorry found and purchased a different plugin where support answers my questions within 4 hours.
I used this plugin for a long time, and I am not sure why I kept struggling.
It wastes too much resources on hosting server. Also some statistics never worked. and it has frequently updates like author never manages to produce stable code.
Few times my blog stopped because Slimstat simply wasted far to much resources to work.
I even tried to contact author to get rude response.
Yesterday mu blog stopped again. After going through time wasting procedure of turning plugins one by one to find out if one of them was a problem, unsurprisingly, it was Slimstat. Why did I not first try to turn that one off I do not know...
Finally, I decided to get rid of this.
Great One !
I wish it is translated into my language ... ARABIC ... 5 stars !
Needed to track what logged in users where looking at. This plugin worked a treat. + there are some great premium features, not all the best things in life are free.
All thumbs up and highly recommended. Going for the Pro version next!!! Installed without a hitch and performs as expected. Get some!!!
