WP e-Commerce is a free WordPress Shopping Cart Plugin that lets customers buy your products, services and digital downloads online.
I like the templating system and shortcodes okay.
Working with variations (e.g., color and size combinations) is tedious and, in parts, broken.
1. When you create a variation and give it a photo, that photo is not displayed in the variations list when editing a product, nor in the shopping cart. (There are plugins to get it to show on product pages.)
2. You can't create a single new variation combination. If you have set up small, medium and large, and black, blue, and gray, you can't create a new black XLarge without also generating blue XL and gray XL. I recently had to delete 62 combinations to get down to the 34 that actually exist.
3. Bulk editing doesn't work.
4. Can't "Empty Trash" of variations.
Don't use this, just save yourself endless headaches and use WooCommerce. I use both WooCommerce and WP e-commerce and the only site that gives me trouble is the WP e-commerce site. My customer has been unable to receive payments now for a month due to a bug, yet nothing changed on the server or at the payment gateway. I've lost days now to trying to find the issue with no success and I'm reaching the point where I'm thinking it'd be quicker and easier to just port this site to WooCommerce.
Seriously, just don't waste your time.
I have been using this plugin for a long time for my clients websites, and it has saved me hell lot of work. Because everything is already here and its just becoming better with each new version. But I m disappointed to see 347 1 rating by some fools. I m sure these were the people who didn't know how to use this plugin, but since its so easy to use, let me say it this way , they just wanted to activate the plugin and have the online store set up without even entering the price of the item.
The customer service was awesome when I had a problem this morning. Within minutes I had been offered a fix that worked which was just perfect.
I BOUGHT the Gold Cart and FedEx Plugin and have both installed at nationalhomefloors.com. The cart works, but the FedEx module didn't calculate shipping. I had opened several community forum topics, only to have them marked as spam, and had requested Premium one on one support using the API key for the Gold Cart I purchased. I have also used the CONTACT FORM at ecsquest.net which is where getshopped.org said the FedEx module is developed/supported. I even offered to pay more money either to getshopped.org or to Greg at ecsquest.net to fix the problem. This sent on for over a month with no reply from either site. I finally got in touch with Justin Sainton, one of the consultants recommended on getshopped.org. He replied to my request within five minutes and completely fixed my problem. This was once a one-star review, but I have since upgraded it to a four-star, since both plugins work great and Justin was awesome. I'm holding one star back because I think getshopped.org should not sell the FedEx plugin on their site until it is completely compatible with the newest version of WPEC.
Very easy to echo functions for a bespoke look, very easy to adapt to custom themes and does the job effortlessly and Justin on support is very helpful and responsive considering the time difference between us. Very happy indeed.
I have to say that WPEC is close to being a great plugin. However, where is falls short is in its execution of what it's supposed to do. Upon installation I've had problems with variations (not changing the image or price), shipping (flat rate showing $0.00 for shipping in a region left blank) and payments (Checkout loops back to the cart rather than processing the payment using PayPal Payments Pro).
Now I realize that this is a free plugin and, as plugins go, it's fairly complex. However, it's the lack of support for these issues that acerbates the problem. After spending some time on the GetShopped support forum, I found there are other individuals who were having the same issues I was having. Some of these posts had been up for months without any type of response or attempt to resolve the issue.
I had thought about upgrading my payment gateway to thier Gold Cart plugin. However, I've found that this plugin also has its problems and support for it is almost non-existent.
If they fix the bugs and make a concerted attempt to support this plugin I may change my mind. Until that time, this is the last time I install WPEC.
very helpful everybody to sell their product online with WordPress
make money so easiest and fast :) thanks to Mufasa and team.. i really appreciate it
Thank you - great job! Nice to use.
I developed a website for a client with very, very minimal needs. He doesn't sell anything online - he simply lists products and needed a more structured way to manage them than to edit a regular WP page constantly. Enter WP e-Commerce, the seemingly perfect solution. It's free, and with some editing, it does what he needs.
That said, we still have been unable to make the setting for 'no thumbnail cropping' work properly, so the users must pre-size all images before posting them. In addition, when we had a major issue due to an update installation, the only way to get actual support was to pay $47 for the 'Gold' upgrade, which entitled us to a single support request that took several days to get a response.
So if you're running a smallish business and know how to code, go for it. If you're doing anything that requires heavy lifting or you need serious support options, go for something more robust than this.
